Beef steak in a tomato-based salsa

A classic Mexican dish that brings bold, home-style flavours to your kitchen. Tender strips of beef steak marinated with garlic, then pan-fried & simmered in a rich tomato-based salsa. It’s a satisfying, one-pan meal—perfect for family dinners or casual weekend cooking.

Ingredients

  • 500g thin rump steaks
  • 1 capsicum
  • 1 onion
  • 2 potatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Salsa Ingredients

  • 4 tomatoes
  • 1/4 onion
  • 1 long green chilli
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 pinch cumin
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Cooking Instructions



  1. Finely chop the garlic & cut the beef into strips, then marinate them with chopped garlic, salt & pepper for 20 minutes.
  2. Blend the salsa ingredients together.
  3. Slice the onion, potato & capsicum.
  4. In a hot pan with oil, pan-fry the marinated meat until they’re nicely browned.
  5. Cover the pan with a lid & turn the heat down to medium-low.
  6. After 15 minutes, add the potatoes, onion & capsicum. Increase the heat to medium-high.
  7. Once the potatoes, onion & capsicum are cooked, add our salsa & let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Taste the dish & adjust the salt if needed. Then cook for another 15 minutes.
